Work Experience

At the time when Oľga and Dušan Novotovci decided to establish their own company NOVOTA ART, they already had a period of professional activity in the field of arts and crafts with a wide range of interests. They significantly participated in the restoration and restoration of parts of historical architecture in the monumental environment of Bratislava, and as talented graduates of the Secondary School of Applied Arts in Bratislava, they also developed their own independent artistic creation. They decided to use their creative ambitions, craftsmanship, artistic and technical skills on a separate platform of the company and from November 1989 they gradually developed their activities into all areas related to the reconstruction, restoration and artistic completion of the architectural environment.

The domain of the company’s activity, which has been successfully promoted for more than two decades in the field of monumental restoration in Slovakia and abroad, is work that requires spatial imagination, but also a sense of historical stylistic morphology and great demands on technical and artistic realization. The NOVOTA company applies its ambitions in working with stone (parts of architecture and independent sculptural reconstructions), with stucco (details of facades and interiors), has realized the implementation of window stained glass, reconstruction, renovation and production of carved wooden elements (historic gates, windows, stairs, railings), realizations in the field of ceramics (interior) and metal elements (gates, doors, grilles, architecture details).

From the very beginning, they realized with a great sense for the stylistic character of the original details and, with the use of research findings, the monumental restoration of the building of the parish of St. Martin in Bratislava in the years 1988-1989, participated in the renovation of the Franciscan Church in Bratislava, reconstructed the Renaissance oak entrance gates at the Jesuit Church in Bratislava, participated in the renovation of the interior of the Uršulín Church. These works, which meant the first independent steps of the company in the field of arts and crafts renewal with a significant impact, are followed by numerous other works and the development of the range of activities of the NOVOTA company. In the representative premises of the Presidential Palace, i. in the historic interiors of Grassalkovič Palace, they restored wooden and gilded paneling in 1994. A year later, they are commissioned to reconstruct (according to the photograph) two baroque gilded and glazed ceramic furnaces, which to this day document the uniquely responsible and creative approach of the authors Oľga and Dušan Novotovec. An example of large and demanding authorial realizations is the Mirror Hall and the bar area, which were to be re-created in 2001, during the general reconstruction of the Carlton Hotel in Bratislava.
