Residential house Dunajská 39

Corner two-storey apartment house, Dunajská 39, Bratislava, from 1896, with a new superstructure. Facades in eclectic style.  National cultural monument.

The house in a corner situation with an inner courtyard has the main facade facing Dunajská Street. There is also an entrance portal with a coat of arms and a passage.  It was originally built as an investment of the Society of Printers and Typographers at the end of the 19th century.  The façade has classical architectural detailing with banded rustication, continuous cornices, moulded window framing, segmental and triangular pediments above the windows, and a segmental portal. The attic with illusory round openings is a special feature.

Implementation

Before the restoration, the façade was only roughly repaired, many architectural elements were removed. The façade had been deteriorated by leakage. In the process of restoration, the original architectural articulation system was reconstructed, deformed profiles and details were restored. The main cornice was rebuilt. The plumbing elements were reconstructed and the attic was restored in its authentic expression. The colour scheme of ochre, light grey and muted white unified the expression of the façade, while the illusionary effect on the attic was also restored.

BAUMIT and KEIM materials were used for the restoration.
