Neo-Gothic manor house of the Esterházy family in Galanta. Iron bar gates with cast iron and brass elements. Functional and restoration reconstruction. National cultural monument. Year of realization 2014.
Neo-Gothic mansion for the Esterházy family built by the Budapest architect Anton Weber in 1861. The complex, which is designed in a uniform Gothic style, includes a 225.5 cm high entrance gate with cast-iron columns anchored to the side brick pillars. The lower part of the lattice fields is full with a motif of Gothic arches. Above the plinth runs a band with coffers. The lattice is formed by a series of intersecting bars. The entire lattice gate with cast-iron and brass elements was laid horizontally, uncovered under the soil.
The iron fields and components were in a severely damaged condition (corrosion, soiling to the depth of the details). The gate forms a set of bays and columns. The individual parts were formed from prefabricated cast steel elements. The gate shows high professionalism and was undoubtedly created according to the author’s project. This quality is also maintained by the overall restoration. The individual parts have been dismantled, cleaned and treated. Detail models were created based on the originals for expertly cast copies of the missing elements. Vertical components were restored and lateral pillars were built according to the profiling of the originals. The functional components of the gate, opening and closing were also redesigned.
