Multifunctional house in Čadca

The overall artistic solution and design of the facade. Year of realization: 2014.

Multifunctional house from the beginning of the 20th century after several modifications was to receive a uniformly designed architectural and artistic facade. A two-storey house with a raised dormer part with semicircular windows in an asymmetrical situation. The rhythm and distinctiveness of the façade is determined by the window system: on the 1st floor with a narrow vertical rectangular shape, on the 2nd floor with a high semicircular ending. The ground floor façade had a variety of commercial portals in the form of cut-outs.

Implementation

The solution of the main facade is complex and designed by NOVOTA ART studio.

The façade was given a basic horizontal division with cornices around the perimeter, on the main and courtyard façades, with a different solution. The main portal was given a wide framing with fine ornamentation. The cornice between the first and second floor has ornamentation with a motif of lilies and palmettes. The supporting space of the decoration is a wide strip of frieze under the roof cornice with a rich motif of interlaced plants and roses. This motif also dominates the gable of the dormer.

The intention of the decoration was to enrich the basic structure of the façade in the style of late eclecticism and Art Nouveau and to create the illusion of the historical technique of sgraffito. The artistic solution according to the original design was realized by hand painting.
